Meet the Band

FYI: pop culture news

February 26, 2004|By Sarah Schaffer

Hometown: Baltimore

Current members: Prince Charming Chazz (aka Chazz Keener) is backed by the Charm City Underground, which consists of a backup singer and DJ who go by the monikers William Hazze and Unkie Unkie Blamm, respectively.

Founded in: 2002

Style: Rap

Influenced by: Dr. Dre, Eminem, Metallica, N.W.A., Elvis Presley and the notoriously vulgar punk singer G.G. Allin.

Notable: The Hampden resident and self-proclaimed prince of hardcore rap retired late last summer from the local music scene. But now PCC is back and ready to take on Baltimore's bars and clubs once again. His coming-out-of-retirement / Raptilian Records 7-inch release show is tomorrow at the Ottobar.

Quotable: PCC on his decision to perform again: "I'm back because I've been seeing a lot of weak rhyming by a lot of weak rappers. I'm back to claim what was mine before I gave it up."

Check out Prince Charming Chazz, performing an all-ages show tomorrow at the Ottobar. Also billed are the Legendary Shack Shakers, MC Height and the Fishnet Stalkers. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the show starts at 10 p.m. The Ottobar is at 2549 N. Howard St. Call 410-662-0069 or visit www.theottobar.com.
