Bessie V. Woodson, 75, nursing technician

Bessie Virginia Woodson, a retired nursing technician, died of lung cancer Feb. 16 at Chesapeake Hospice House in Linthicum. The Baltimore resident was 75.

Bessie Barco was born in North Carolina and graduated from P.W. Moore High School in Elizabeth City. She married George Griffin in 1945. After their marriage ended in divorce, she moved to New York, where she married Pringle Woodson in 1950. He died in 1977.

Mrs. Woodson moved with her family to Baltimore in 1958. She worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she received training to become a nursing technician. She worked there for 33 years before she retired in 1994.

A lifelong Christian, Mrs. Woodson sang in choirs as a young woman and after she moved to Baltimore, was an active member for many years at Greater St. John Baptist Church. Later, she attended Mount Pleasant Ministries.

Services were Saturday in North Carolina.

She is survived by her daughter, Lillian E. Taylor of Largo; two sisters, Daisy Barco Garrison of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Florine Barco Brickers of Baltimore; and two granddaughters.
