Mooney, Adam G., 1st Lt.

1st Lt. Adam Garber Mooney, U.S. Army of the 3rd Squadron, 17th Calvary, Tenth Mountain Division was found deceased on February 13, 2004 near Mosul, Iraq. He was with his co-pilot, Chief Warrant Officer Patrick Dorff, when they went down in their Kiowa 58 Helicopter into the Tigris River on January 25, 2004 during a search and rescue mission. Lt. Mooney was 28 years of age. CWO Dorff was buried last Friday, the day Lt. Mooney was found. Surviving along with his parents are his wife Kate Mooney of Conway, Arkansas; a daughter Sydney Marie Mooney of Valley Lee, MD; his sister and brother-in-law Laura Mooney King and Gary King of Salisbury, MD; two nieces Kaitlyn Fitzhugh and Courtney King of Salisbury, MD; a step-father Norm Mc Cray of Martinsburg, WVA; step-sister Sarah Mc Cray; step-brother Grant Mc Cray, both of Johnson City, TN; parents-in-law Bart and Betty Townsend, Plano, TX; step-grandmother Irene Mooney of Glen Burnie, MD, 45 first cousins, numerous aunts, uncles and friends. The family will receive friends at Governor's Hall, Sailwinds Park, Cambridge, MD. from 11:oo to 1 PM on Tuesday, February 24th where the funeral will be held at 1 PM with Full Military Honors. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Larry Bruno Bogacz. Burial will follow at t Old Trinity Church Cemetery.
