Gay to play in McDonald's

Rudy Gay, Archbishop Spalding's 6-foot-9 senior forward, will be among 48 players named to the 27th McDonald's All-American High School East team at a 4:30 p.m. news conference on both ESPN and ESPNews.

Gay, who has signed to play for the University of Connecticut in the fall, is averaging 25 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the No. 3 Cavaliers (23-6).

The McDonald's game will be played March 31 at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.

Bob Flynn of No. 2 Cardinal Gibbons (25-5) will coach the East team.
