Winifred S. Lange, 86, Rodgers Forge resident

Winifred S. Lange, a homemaker and 50-year Rodgers Forge resident, died of cardio-respiratory failure at Brighton Gardens Assisted-Living Community in Towson. She was 86.

She was born Winifred Claire Schwarz in Baltimore and raised in Guilford. She was a 1934 graduate of Notre Dame Preparatory School and earned a certificate in painting and sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1937.

She was married in 1938 to Norman J. Lange. Her husband, retired manager of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine bookstore, died in 2002.

Mrs. Lange lived for 50 years on Overbrook Road, and had been active years ago as a Girl Scout leader at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church.

She enjoyed collecting and maintaining family photograph albums and playing bridge.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Pius X, 6428 York Road.

Mrs. Lange is survived by two sons, Norman J. Lange of Cincinnati and John G. Lange of Rodgers Forge; two daughters, Claire L. Rankin of Eldersburg and Mary Jean Kirk of Idlewylde; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
