Kristin Keller gave visiting Marist its first lead with less than three minutes to play, and the Red Foxes went on to defeat Loyola, 61-58, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's basketball game last night at Reitz Arena.

The win clinched at least a No. 4 seed in the conference tournament for the division-leading Red Foxes (15-9, 11-4).

Maureen Magarity finished with 17 points for Marist. Jackie Valderas led the Greyhounds (11-12, 7-7) with 14 points.

Elizabeth City State 87, Bowie State 73: Venkia Jones hit two free throws to give the visiting Lady Vikings (11-12, 7-8 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) the lead for good with 11:32 left.

Kenyail Johnson led the Bulldogs (13-14, 7-9) with 16 points. Angelica Dempsey had 25 for the Lady Vikings.

College of Notre Dame 44, Villa Julie 43: Ashley Burley (11 points) made two free throws with 18.3 seconds left to lift the visiting Gators (13-9) over the Mustangs (3-20) in Stevenson.

Cara Hill (11 points) made a three-pointer with 4.8 seconds left, but Villa Julie fell short. Lorie Budd led the Mustangs with 13.

Men

Bowie State 96, Elizabeth City State 60: Anton Jenifer scored 24 points for the host Bulldogs (22-3, 14-2 CIAA) in a commanding decision over the Vikings (11-15, 4-11).

Scottie Alston led Elizabeth City State with 13 points.
