Ruby M. Kacher, 87, secretary, homemaker

Ruby M. Kacher, a former secretary and homemaker, died of congestive heart failure Feb. 11 at Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was 87 and lived in St. Michaels.

She was born Ruby Mildred Schnaitman and raised in St. Michaels, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Baltimore and graduated from Strayer Business College.

She worked as a secretary at Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. before her 1938 marriage to Russell Edward Kacher Jr., who was a mechanical draftsman at Bendix Radio in Towson. He died last year.

The couple lived for many years on Mannasota Avenue in Hamilton before moving to St. Michaels in 1998.

Mrs. Kacher was a member of St. Matthew United Church of Christ in Northeast Baltimore.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 at Arnolia United Methodist Church, 1776 E. Joppa Road.

Survivors include a son, Russell E. Kacher of St. Michaels; a daughter, Marybeth Krebs of Kingsville; a brother, John E. Schnaitman of St. Michaels; a sister, Doris Hines of Relay; and a granddaughter.
