New Positions

Devine, Funk take posts with Essex Corp

Essex Corp. has announced that Jim Devine has joined the Columbia-based manufacturer as executive vice president and general manager, and that Fred Funk has joined the company as vice president for commercial services.

Devine leads the government business groups. Formerly a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton, he earned his graduate engineering degree from George Washington University and is also a graduate of the National War College.

Funk holds an master of business administration degree from the University of Maryland. He is in charge of creating a commercial services team that will draw on the company's products and image and signal processing technologies. He will also help in the expansion of commercial business development activities. Funk is a former vice president at Systems Alliance Inc.

Skyzer joins RewardsPlus as Mid-Atlantic sales chief

RewardsPlus has named Joel Skyzer sales director for the Mid-Atlantic region. He will work with employers that have 500 or more employees.

Before joining the Hunt Valley-based benefits management technology provider, Skyzer held sales management positions with America's Choice Health Plans, Medical Care Management Systems and Polaris Consulting.

He is a graduate of Temple University.

Banking and Finance

Verleysen is appointed Provident vice president

Provident Bank has appointed Francois R. Verleysen vice president and district sales manager for the community banking division's Southwest Baltimore district, and R. Thomas Crawford as division manager, Baltimore commercial banking group.

Verleysen, an Ellicott City resident, supervises the district's 11 in-store branches. A graduate of the University of London, he earned his graduate degree at the University of Virginia.

Crawford, who holds an MBA from the University of Baltimore and is a certified public accountant, oversees development of commercial business in the Baltimore region. A resident of Catonsville, he serves on the UB Merrick Advisory Board and on the board of the Family Tree.

Naden/Lean LLC names Caulk, Drake partners

Naden/Lean LLC has named Bruce A. Caulk and Jeff Drake partners in the Timonium-based accounting and business consulting firm.

Caulk provides services to clients in contracting, manufacturing, restaurant operations, real estate and other industries. A certified public accountant, he is also a member of the Building Congress and Exchange, and Associated Builders and Contractors.

Drake, who concentrates in tax and auditing and nonprofit organizations, is a certified public accountant and graduate of the University of Baltimore.
