DeVoe keeps options open

Don DeVoe said yesterday that he is not closing the door on future collegiate basketball coaching opportunities after he retires from the Naval Academy at the end of this season.

"I'm just going to see what's out there," he said from his office in Annapolis. "You always want to keep your options open. I've had a wonderful career. Unfortunately, this season I had a team that didn't get the job done."

The Midshipmen are 3-19 overall and an 0-9 in the Patriot League this season under DeVoe, who has a career 510-385 record. He announced his retirement from the academy Feb. 2.
