Blast today

Matchup: Blast (17-6) vs. Kansas City Comets (8-14)

Site: Kemper Arena, Kansas City, Mo.

Time: 11:35 a.m.

Radio: WCBM (680 AM)

Outlook: The Blast had a strong reaction to seeing its seven-game winning streak end in Dallas on Jan. 24. It responded by beating the Kansas City Comets, 11-4, at 1st Mariner Arena on Saturday night. Today, the teams meet again in a game that is part of an educational field trip. Kemper Arena will be filled with children and the teams will have to adjust to the earlier start. Blast coach Tim Wittman has his team well-positioned for the playoffs - first in the Eastern Division. But the Blast is aiming for the best record in the MISL and it is currently fighting the Milwaukee Wave (15-4) for that honor. "It's not as hard as back-to-back games," Wittman said of this morning's encounter. "There are no excuses." The Blast will be without defenseman Danny Kelly (foot) for the second consecutive game. Forward Tarik Walker (ankle) is listed as probable and backup goalie Karim Moumban is out because he had to make an emergency trip to Cameroon, where his son is in critical condition after a car accident.
