Smoke does minor damage at high school

February 03, 2004

Smoke billowing from a storage closet at Oakland Mills High School last night caused only minor damage to the east Columbia school, according to Howard County fire officials.

William E. Mould, the fire department's spokesman, said an alarm brought firefighters to the school - which is undergoing extensive renovation - at 9:50 p.m.

Firefighters found "significant smoke" in the gym area, but no flames. The cause of the smoke was not immediately known, he said.
