McDonogh earns 56-49 win over No. 1 Mt. St. Joe

McDonogh senior forward Justin Drummond scored 17 and grabbed eight rebounds, leading the host Eagles over top-ranked Mount St. Joseph, 56-49, yesterday in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference boys basketball game.

The win was the seventh in eight games for McDonogh (12-9, 6-4) and second in three days over a top-5 opponent. The Eagles defeated No. 4 Cardinal Gibbons on Friday.

McDonogh held the Gaels (19-2, 9-1) to two third-quarter points and got a solid defensive effort from center Dajuan Summers, who helped hold Will Thomas to 10 points. Malcolm Delaney added 13 points.
