New voting machine to be demonstrated

Harford County's new touch-screen voting system will make its debuts at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday at a news conference in the Globe Cafe, 401 Thomas Run Road on the Harford Community College campus. The demonstration was rescheduled from Tuesday because of bad weather.

Diebold Election Systems spokesman Chris Hood will demonstrate the machine and explain Maryland's new AccuVote System. People can try the system at the meeting. The election board is preparing for the state's March 2 presidential primary.

College-financing seminar scheduled for Feb. 21

Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest, a 1st District Republican, will hold a seminar, "How to Pay for College," from 9:30 a.m. to noon Feb. 21 at Bel Air High School, 100 Heighe St.

The event will feature a panel discussion in which officials from the federal government, state government and private lending institutions will discuss financial assistance programs. Booths will feature information from colleges and universities in Maryland, as well as other resources for financial assistance.
