HOWARD CRIME REPORT

The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410- 313-3700.

East Columbia

Lambskin Lane: 9000 block, Long Reach. A man was observed trying to open doors and looking into homes about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 18. Police confronted and identified the man and found he was wanted on a warrant in Prince George's County. Dearick J. Gray, 36, was arrested, police said.

Thorn Free Court: 6700 block, Owen Brown. Someone entered a home by breaking a window about 8 p.m. Jan. 20. A game system, computer and a knife were stolen.

Stevens Forest Road: 5800 block, Oakland Mills. Two men knocked on the door to an apartment about 2 p.m. Saturday. When allowed inside, they displayed a black-handled, silver-colored handgun with a scope and laser. The men took cash, a cellular telephone and clothing.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Washington Blvd.: 6300 block, Elkridge. A man entered a gas station, walked behind the counter, displayed a handgun and confronted the clerk about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 16. The man demanded cash from the register and fled after it was handed over. Brian A. Houston, 20, was arrested, police said.

Troy Hill Drive: 7000 block, Elkridge. Someone entered a business twice between Jan. 15 and Jan. 17 by breaking the front door in the early morning. In the first incident, a small amount of cash was taken from a cash box. In the second incident, a drawer filled with cash was taken from a desk. Police did not provide further information.

Cedar Grove Lane: 7500 block, Elkridge. Several tools were stolen from an attached garage early Jan. 19. The resident provided police with information about a possible suspect. Police contacted the man and found stolen tools in his truck. Lance R. Sharp, 39, of an unspecified address was arrested, police said.

Orchard Club Drive: 6300 block, Elkridge. A man flashed a person through the glass door of the clubhouse at Orchard Crossing Apartments early Jan. 19.

Fels Lane and Ellicott Mills Drive: A driver for Columbia Cab was robbed at gunpoint about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. As the man attempted to escape, the cabdriver put his vehicle in reverse and struck the man, who limped away. After a search of the area, Robert D. Daylea, 22, of Ellicott City was arrested, police said.

N. Laurel/Savage/Jessup

Storch Woods Drive: 8500 block, Savage. Someone entered an apartment through a ground-floor window and stole a digital video disc player, DVDs and a surround-sound system between 11 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Jan. 20.

8600 Pine Road: 8600 block, Jessup. A driver for Pizza Hut noticed an older white vehicle following him as he drove to make a delivery about 9 p.m. Jan. 21. After making the delivery and walking back to his vehicle, a man wearing a black mask and black clothing approached with a handgun. The delivery driver gave money to the man, who left in the white vehicle.

9700 Country Meadows Lane: 9700 block, North Laurel. A man reported that three men - one armed with a silver-colored pistol - assaulted him as he was walking about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. After taking his wallet, the attackers fled in a vehicle - possibly a black Ford Taurus or Pontiac Grand Am with a Florida license plate - that was seen on Washington Boulevard as it traveled south into Prince George's County. Police began a pursuit, which they called off when the vehicle reached unsafe speeds.
