Delegate takes name off immigrant bill

General Assembly

January 28, 2004

A Baltimore County Republican lawmaker has removed his name as a sponsor of a package of bills aimed at cracking down on illegal immigrants, explaining that his listing was the result of a "clerical error."

Del. J. B. Jennings issued a statement in response to a Sun article Sunday that reported his sponsorship of a series of bills along with two other county Republicans. A spokeswoman for Jennings said it was never his intent to put his name on the bill.
