Thornton plan rally delayed until Feb. 9

January 27, 2004

A rally in support of full funding for the Thornton school reform plan scheduled for last night in Annapolis was postponed until Feb. 9 because of the weather.

Talk has grown in Annapolis that the costly Thornton plan might be scaled back, spurring supporters of the plan to schedule the rally to keep the $1.3 billion program on schedule.

The Maryland State Teachers Association predicted that as many as 10,000 people would pack Lawyers Mall for what would have been one of the largest planned State House rallies in recent history.
