DONALD OSCARSON, Age 74, of Watertown, CT, passed away, January 14, 2004. Mr. Oscarson was born in Baltimore, Maryland, February 16, 1929, son of the late Palme and Eleanor Josephine (Erickson) Oscarson. Mr. Oscarson was raised in Baltimore and attended the Gilman School where his parents were faculty members. He later transferred to The Taft School to complete his high school education. After Taft, he attended Yale University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951 and a Masters degree in 1953. Mr. Oscarson returned to Taft the following year to begin his career as a Latin teacher. He went on to teach at Taft for over 50 years serving under three headmasters serving as Dean of Students for 15 years and becoming the longest serving faculty member in the Taft School history. Mr. Oscarson had a passion for teaching and tutoring students, was a great fan of Taft sports and loved cared for his many animals. He is survived by one brother David Oscarson of Pompano Beach, FL and several cousins to include, Jim and Siliy Oscarson of Madison, CT, Edward and Terry Oscarson of Waterford, CT, Edith Martinezz of New Haven, CT and Paul Oscarson of Indiana. The funeral and burial were in Beaverdale Cemetery, New Haven, CT. The Taft School will have a memorial service to honor Mr. Oscarson on Febuary 14, 2004. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue in Hudsond, MA.
