Howard Crime Report

The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-313-3700.

East Columbia

Cradlerock Way: 7200 block, Owen Brown. A woman walking to her car on the Owen Brown Village Center parking lot was approached by a man who demanded her purse about 5 p.m. Jan. 6. He took the purse and ran. He was described as a man in his 20s wearing a black leather jacket with "Rocawear" written on the back.

Eden Brook Drive: 7100 block, Kings Contrivance. Someone entered a home between Jan. 9 and Jan. 19 and stole a laptop computer, stereo, cash and jewelry. There was no sign of forced entry.

West Columbia

Harpers Farm Road: 5400 block, Harper's Choice. A man walking on Harpers Farm Road was approached early Jan. 7 by two men, one of whom asked for a cigarette while the other pulled out a gun. The victim attempted to run but tripped, and one of the assailants struck him in the back of the head with the gun. They stole his jacket, cell phone, keys and cash.

Blue February Way: 11800 block, Hickory Ridge. Someone broke a rear window, entered a home, ransacked a bedroom, and stole a shotgun and a rifle.

Hickory Ridge Road: 10200 block, Hickory Ridge. A man told police that two men forced their way into his apartment and assaulted him about 9:30 p.m. Jan. 14. The men took a small amount of cash, clothing and a video game console.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Mullineaux Lane: 3000 block, Ellicott City. A woman asleep in her living room awoke to the sound of someone inside the house early Jan. 10. She heard someone walking through the living room and then up the steps to the second floor. She stood up and was seen by the intruder, who calmly walked into the kitchen and left through the rear door. Nothing was reported stolen. The burglar entered through an unlocked basement door.

N. Laurel/Savage/Jessup

Washington Blvd.: 8700 block, Jessup. A man stopped at a Crown gas station got out of his vehicle and walked toward the attendant when two people, one of whom displayed a knife, approached him about 4:30 p.m. Jan. 9. They forced him inside the gas station to withdraw cash from an automated teller machine and then forced him to drive to his home, where they stole cash and video equipment. The victim then drove the pair to Oakland Mills Road and Guilford Road, where they got out and fled on foot. The victim returned home and called police. Police said they arrested Michael Quinton Patrick, 17, and charged him as an adult. Police did not provide information on the second person.

Gorman Road: 9000 block, North Laurel. Someone entered through a rear window of a residence and stole rugs, carpet, wire shelving, a microwave oven, towels, shower curtains and jewelry between Dec. 25 and Jan. 11.
