Betty L. Ruhl, 73, homemaker, gardener

Betty L. Ruhl, a homemaker and avid bowler and gardener who enjoyed bird-watching, died of myelodysplastic syndrome Friday at Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was 73 and lived in Severna Park.

Born Betty Reese, she was a native of Hershey, Pa., and graduated from Hershey High School. She later married Albert L. Ruhl. and the couple eventually settled in Severna Park.

Mrs. Ruhl also enjoyed traveling and playing cards and Scrabble.

A memorial service will be held at noon today at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, Mrs. Ruhl is survived by three daughters, Deborah G. Devlin of Baton Rouge, La., Janis E. Ruhl of Pittsburgh and Cindy P. Stettler-Rima of Severna Park; a son, Scott A. Ruhl of Glen Burnie; a sister, Jean R. Saufley of Hummelstown, Pa.; a brother John S. Reese of Hershey; and four grandchildren.
