MARIE HELEN WALTERS-STEPHENS, formerly of Baltimore, MD., died at home on January 16, 2004. Mrs. Stephens was born on October 19, 1924 to Marie Veronica Blann and Edward Columbus Blann. Both of her parents and a loving brother Edward C. Blann Jr., killed during the line of duty in WW II, preceded Mrs. Stephens in death. Mrs. Stephens had resided in Rehoboth Beach, DE., since 1962 where she was formerly employed with the Rehoboth Beach Police Dept., as a meter maid and later became manager of the Anchorage Motel. In recent years she was a homemaker, mother and devoted grandmother. She is survived by her sons Mark E. Walters and wife Rose of Forest Hill, MD., Jonathan A. Walters of Rehoboth Beach, DE., and David G. Walters and wife Barbara of Rehoboth Beach, DE., daughters Veronica E. Dize of Seaford, DE., Karen M. Taylor and husband Howard of Sykesville, MD., a devoted sister Joan Mae Rapp of Ellicott City, MD., and an endeared former daughter-in-law Janet A. Hinkle of Rehoboth Beach, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. She also leaves behind her two best companions, her cats Lucy Mae and Simon. Viewing will be held at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, DE., 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Wednesday January 21, 2004. Interment will be held the following day January 22 at 1 P.M., at Spring Hill Memorial Gardens, Easton, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, 222 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE., 19801 or to the Diabetes Foundation, Community Service Building, 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE., 19801.
