Carlos Moreira and Jackson Atoyebi each scored 11 points to lead host Elon past UMES, 54-51, in men's basketball last night at Alumni Gym in Elon, N.C.

The Phoenix (5-10) tied the game with 3:25 left on Montell Watson's layup and then went on a 7-0 scoring run to win it. Moreira hit a three-pointer and Matt Nowlin made two free throws in the final minutes.

The Hawks (1-10) had scored seven straight to pull within 23-20, before Elon used a 10-2 scoring run for a 33-22 edge with 1:06 before the half.

UMES' Tee Trotter led all scorers with 17 points.

Marymount 76, St. Mary's 65: The host Saints (4-10, 2-1 Capital Athletic Conference) held the Seahawks (3-8, 1-2) to 21 points in the first half en route to victory at Verizon Sports Arena in Arlington, Va.

Marymount led 58-36 with 12 minutes left, and St. Mary's never got closer than 11.

Kip McCoy led Marymount with 17 points. St. Mary's Matt Miller led all scorers with 20.

York 79, Goucher 67: Steve Schmehl scored 23 to lead the host Spartans (5-8, 2-1 CAC) over the Gophers.

Isaac Brooks III led the Gophers (7-6, 1-2) with 17.

Frostburg 82, Pitt.-Greensburg 79: DeNelle Hale (Dunbar) made two free throws with 24 seconds left to lift Frostburg (6-7, 1-1 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference) to its first conference win, over visiting Pittsburgh-Greensburg (5-8, 1-2).

Gallaudet 60, Salisbury 58: David Farias made two free throws to give the host Bison (7-7, 1-2 CAC) a four-point lead with six seconds left to secure the win over the Sea Gulls (3-9, 0-3).

Women

York 98, Goucher 79: The Gophers (6-6, 0-3) took a 52-37 lead into the break, but were outscored 61-27 in the second half in a loss to the host Panthers (8-4, 3-0 CAC).

Hood 78, College of Notre Dame 32: Hood had five scorers in double figures, led Katie Brennan's 16 points, as the host Blazers (6-4, 1-0) handed the Gators (5-3, 1-0) their first Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference loss.

Frostburg 82, Pitt.-Greensburg 60: Tracey Little scored a game-high 32 points and grabbed 18 rebounds to lead the host Bobcats (10-4, 2-0) past Pittsburgh-Greensburg (10-3, 2-1 ECAC).

Salisbury 81, Gallaudet 35: Christen Barney finished with game highs of 16 points and six assists to power the Sea Gulls (8-5, 3-0 CAC) past the host Bison (2-11, 0-3) in Washington.

Eastern Mennonite 64, Villa Julie 35: Alicia Barnard scored 22 points but the Mustangs (1-11) were beaten by the visiting Royals (11-1).
