Gilchrist's layup helps Tigers snap 15-game CAA losing streak

Senior guard Jamaal Gilchrist scored the game-winning basket on a driving layup with 4.4 seconds remaining to lead Towson University to a 70-68 victory over the University of Delaware Saturday evening.

Gilchrist, who scored five of his 15 points in the final 39 seconds, gave the Tigers a win that ended their 15-game losing streak in CAA regular season games. The Tigers' last CAA win came on January 15, 2003 when they beat Hofstra, 61-54.

The Tigers, who rallied from an early 11-4 deficit, led by 31-27 at halftime. After the Blue Hens tied the game at 31-31 less than two minutes into the second half, the Tigers spurted to a 45-35 lead on a 14-4 run with 13:20 left in the game.

Sophomore forward Lawrence Hamm led the Tigers with 17 points and a team high seven rebounds. Gilchrist added 15 points and had six assists.
