January 09, 2004|By Joe Christensen

The Orioles have moved their season opener against the Boston Red Sox from April 5 to April 4, with the game now scheduled to be telecast nationally on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball.

The game will start at 8:05 p.m. at Camden Yards.

It originally was scheduled to be an afternoon game on April 5, but now the Orioles and Red Sox will be off that day before resuming their series with a 7:05 p.m. game on April 6.

This will be the Orioles' first ESPN Sunday Night Baseball game since July 18, 1999, against the New York Mets.

"It is a clear sign that we are putting together a team that fans will want to see," Orioles vice president Mike Flanagan said. "And it is a great way for us to kick off our 50th anniversary season."
