Earnest Byner, a former Redskins running back and the director of player development with the Ravens, pointed to the lack of discipline on the team last year.
"Guys could go to Mr. Snyder and talk to him about different situations," Byner said. "Look at what Parcells did in Dallas. He was the hammer. I think Joe will be the hammer, and guys will know that players have to go through him."
Reportedly, Gibbs already has hired former Redskins assistant Joe Bugel as his assistant head coach and recently fired Buffalo Bills coach Gregg Williams as his defensive coordinator.
