Event to benefit school for Native Americans

John Carroll School will sponsor an American Indian Benefit PowWow at 11 a.m. Jan 17 at the school, 703 Churchville Road, Bel Air.

At 11:45 a.m., Eagle Warrior will play the Native American flute. The grand entry of dancers will be at 1 p.m. The head dancers will be from St. Labre Indian School. Evening dancing will resume at 5:30 p.m.

The Morning Star Celebration is a recognition of American Indian culture. A $3 donation will be requested for each adult and $1 for each child. Proceeds to benefit the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Mont.

St. Labre is a Catholic school that serves Northern Cheyenne and Crow families. The school's programs are supported through donations.
