On Monday, December 29, 2003, MR. RANDY MEHRLE HALSEY, 45, of Berlin, MD, formerly of Frederick, died at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda. Born on September 25, 1958 in Hagerstown, he was a son of Shirley Wachter Halsey and the late Robert J. Halsey. He was a Capt. in the U.S. Army, serving from 1980 to 1984 with the 82nd Airborne, where he was Jump Master and a graduate of Ranger school. He was a graduate of Andover High School, Glen Burnie, Class of 1976 and a graduate of Western Maryland College, Westminster, Class of 1980. Presently, he was employed as a truck driver with Marcus Express of Baltimore. Surviving beside his mother are one brother, Les A. Halsey and friend Tracey Shaffer of Frederick, one sister, Kelsey J. Free of Greencastle, PA, one aunt, Beverly J. Hubble of Ijamsville, one nephew Chad A. Halsey of Frederick, a step-nephew Dylan M. Free of Frederick, four cousins, Colby D. Hubble, Kenley T. Hubble, both of Ijamsville, Sonny Halsey, Greg Halsey, both of Charlestown, MD. Mr. Halsey will also be remembered by beloved Angela Sherrill of Bethesda. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Catherine E. and Mehrle M. Wachter, grandparents DeEtt Ward and Garnett Halsey, a uncle Byron Hubble. Family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Thursday, January 1, from 7 to 9 P.M. Friends may call on Thursday from 1 to 9 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 11 A.M. with Rev. Timothy S. May officiating. Interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
