On Saturday December 27, 2003 MELVIN JACK ZEIGLER, 80, of Hagerstown, devoted son of the late William H. Zeigler Jr., and Vida Frances (Ramsburg) Ziegler. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Marie (Disney) Zeigler, one daughter, Linda G. Zielger of Salisbury, MD., two brothers, Francis W. "Hank" Zeigler of Salisbury, MD., and Gene Ziegler of Ephrata, PA., one sister Margaret Chalk of White Hall, MD., and one uncle Alvin Ziegler of Joppa, MD. Mr. Ziegler retired as Commissary Officer at Ft. Ritchie, MD. He also worked for the State of Maryland Unemployment office in Hagerstown and the Maryland Job Service in Frederick, MD. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army and served IN G. Company 311 Infantry Division. A member of the Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211, Military Order of Purple Heart and the 78th Division Veterans Association. Military awards include the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Good Shepherd Ministries Church, Hagerstown. Funeral services will be conducted at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD., on Wednesday December 31 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Steven S. McCullough, officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded. Friends will be received at the funeral chapel on Tuesday from 7 to 9 P.M. In lieu flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Ministries "Building Fund", 20500 Woodbridge Dr., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
