Portland State drops UMES to 0-4

PRINCESS ANNE - Sheu Oduniyi scored 14 points to help Portland State beat UMES, 80-61, yesterday.

Oduniyi hit all five field-goal attempts, including three three-pointers, for the Vikings (5-6). Seamus Boxley added 13 points, and Blake Walker had 12.

Tim Parham led the Seahawks (0-4) with 20 points.

The victory ended a 21-game losing streak on the road for Portland State that dated to the 2001-02 season.

Oduniyi tied the game at 14 with a free throw, sparking a run in which he scored 12 points in eight minutes.

Portland State led 42-25 at the half.

The Vikings shot a season-high 56 percent, making 28 of 50 field-goal attempts, while the Seahawks shot just 38.3 percent (23 of 60) from the field.
