Nominations accepted for Small Business Awards

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Small Business Awards luncheon March 11 at Wakefield Valley Golf and Conference Center.

Small businesses that employ up to 200 members, and nonprofit partners in business that have a permanent location in the county, have operated for at least two years and are chamber members may be nominated for awards.

Nominations are due to the chamber by Jan. 16. Information: 410-848-9050.

State of the County lunch scheduled for Jan. 8

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce has announced its meeting schedule.

The Connections After Hours networking opportunity and business card exchange will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 20 at Gerstell Academy, 2500 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg. Participants can tour the school and learn about its programs. This is an informal gathering of members to network and exchange business cards. Reservations are required by Jan. 13.

The annual State of the County membership luncheon with the Carroll County commissioners will be held at noon Jan. 8 at Martin's Westminster. The cost is $18 and the deadline for reservations is tomorrow.

Employment center offers job-search help

The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center offers workshops and programs for people who are seeking a job or looking for a new career.

Ravens participate in toy-collection drive

Carrolltown Center, in partnership with members of the Baltimore Ravens, recently collected more than 800 new toys for children who are patients at University of Maryland Hospital for Children.

Ravens Kyle Boller, Ron Johnson and Will Demps signed autographs for donors of new toys.

The hospital is a resource for critically and chronically ill children and a research center for children's health care.

New Windsor bank names advisory board member

New Windsor State Bank has appointed Bill Strayton to its advisory board.

Strayton, of Mount Airy, currently serves as president of Strayton Associates and of Health Unlimited Family Fitness & Aquatic Center.

New Windsor State Bank's advisory board promotes the bank.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has announced its top Carroll County sales agents for last month.
