Hennie R. Snyder, 81, statistician and librarian

Hennie R. Snyder, a retired statistician and librarian, died Wednesday of complications from a stroke at Highland Park Hospital in Highland Park, Ill. The Baltimore native was 81.

Born Hennie Rand and raised on Eutaw Place, she was a 1939 Western High School graduate. She earned a degree in library science from the University of Maryland, College Park and had a master's degree from Simmons College in Boston.

She was a statistician at the Housing Authority of Baltimore City and was later a librarian for the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Agriculture.

Her husband of 38 years, Saul Snyder, a Holocaust survivor who owned a Washington, D.C., tailoring and dry-cleaning business, died in 1989.

Services were held yesterday at Sol Levinson & Sons in Owings Mills.

Survivors include a son, James Snyder of Highland Park, Ill.; a sister, Abby Rand of New York City; and two grandchildren.
