The city's homicide toll has grown by four, with three shootings last night and a determination that a woman found dead in July was the victim of foul play.

The latest reported slaying occurred about 10:45 p.m. in front of a house in the first block of S. Fulton Ave., where an unidentified man was found dead - shot in the face, police said.

Minutes earlier, in an apparently unrelated slaying, a man was found fatally shot in the hallway of a building at Windsor Court Apartments in the 2100 block of Garrison Blvd. His identity also was not available.

About 6 p.m., a man standing in the 3100 block of Normount Ave. near Ellamont Street was shot in the head and chest by an occupant of a passing vehicle.

The victim - whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives - died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Less than an hour later, two men were taken into custody, one as he walked along Hilton Parkway and the other in the 3100 block of Presstman St. Both were being questioned about the shooting by detectives at police headquarters.

Police also identified a woman whose partially decomposed body was found inside a plastic trash bag in a shopping cart on July 7, in a heavily wooded area in the 1200 block of Vincent St.

The body was that of 54-year-old Frances Tillman of the 1600 block of Vincent Court, She was last seen alive on July 1 and was reported missing by her family July 4.

An autopsy determined that she died from asphyxiation. Anyone with information was urged to call Detective Michael Johnson at 410-396-2100.
