French Horn Choir to present holiday concert tomorrow

The Carroll French Horn Choir will perform a holiday concert at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Westminster TownMall.

Conducted by Phil Hooks, the concert will feature Amy Grossnickle of Hampstead playing the Alpine horn.

Other musicians include Leslie Brengle, Derek Jackson, Malena Cahall, A. J. Johnston, Malora Cahall, Kristen-Knight Griffin, Jerrod Cannistraci, Rebecca Lantz, Celia Croft, Daniella Miller, Jamie Dorrance, Andy Noonan, Sarah Dorrance, Jamie Norris, Cameron Flynn, Pam Scheuermann, David Greenberg, Erinn Sheridan, Karl Silberzahn, Adam Herbstsomer.

Norma's Twelve Bassoons of Christmas will perform at 11 a.m. tomorrow at the mall.

Dance group to present `Nutcracker' Sunday

Carroll County Dance Center of Sykesville will present The Nutcracker, featuring professional guest dancers from Canada and Russia at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. A tea with the performers will be held at 6:30 p.m.

The performance will be at Westminster High School, 1225 Washington Road. Tickets are available through the dance center at 7564 Main St.

The full-length production will feature Yvonne Cutaran, principal dancer with Les Grands Ballet Canadiens; Bat-Erdene Udval, principal dancer with the Russian Ballet; and Dmitri Malikov, principal dancer with the Donetsk Ballet Company, Lvov Ballet Theater and Moscow City Ballet; along with local dancers and actors.

Arts Council to offer movie screenings at center

The Carroll County Arts Council will offer a holiday showing of The Neverending Story on its big screen at the Carroll Arts Center at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dec. 26.

The Arts Council's monthly movie, Home for the Holidays, will be shown at 7 p.m. Dec. 27.

Doors open 30 minutes before show time. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.

Tickets for The Neverending Story are $3. Children younger than age 12 must be with an adult.

Tickets for Home for the Holidays are $5 for adults and $4 for children younger than age 12 and seniors older than 60.

Arts Council members receive a $1 discount.

Fairhaven accepting submissions for art exhibit

The Sykesville retirement community of Fairhaven will sponsor its seventh annual juried art exhibit April 15 to June 1.

Submissions for the exhibit will be accepted Jan. 1-31. Slides and entry forms from Maryland artists and those who live within about 100 miles of the state are welcome.

Paintings in any medium, completed in the past three years, may be submitted.

Five cash prizes, ranging from $50 to $1,000, will be awarded.

Modeling students attend training seminar

Model Sherri McKinstry visited the MG Models Supermodel Seminar Saturday at Savage Dance Company in Eldersburg.

Modeling students ages 6 to 19 attended the seminar as part of their model training. MG Models owner Megan Graybeal arranged for McKinstry to share her experiences in breaking into the business and working as a high fashion model at the age of 19.

KcKinstry showed the girls her portfolio, including photographs of her in Europe, Japan and New York.
