PHILIP T. YOCHUM, Age 79, of Avalon and formerly of Towson, MD, died Friday evening at the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital Cape May Courthouse, NJ. Born in Quakertown, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore and Margaret (Scheetz) Yochum. He was a retired motel and cafeteria chain executive and WWII Army Veteran who received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained at the Battle of Anzio. he also served as president of the A.L. Mathias Company. A resident of Towson, MD for 30 years, he enjoyed summering in Avalon with his family since 1967. He moved here permanently in 1992 and worked for 6 years at the Showboat Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Connie (nee Petrillose) Yochum; his beloved children, Cynthia Yochum Fessick and her husband John of Wayne, PA and Philip T. Yochum, Jr. of Houston, TX. He was also the proud grandfather of infant Andrew John Fessick as well as loving brother of Joan Shand of Lancaster, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial of Thursday, December 18, 2003 at 11 A.M. at Marris Stella Roman Catholic Church, 5012 Dune Dr., Avalon, NJ where his family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until time of Mass. The interment will be made at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, Cape May Court House. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in his memory to the charity of your choice.
