Sarah H. Crockett, 88, emergency room registrar

Sarah H. Crockett, a former hospital emergency room registrar and longtime member of Oxford United Methodist Church on the Eastern Shore, died of complications from diabetes Dec. 9 at an assisted-living facility in York, Pa. She was 88.

She was born and raised Sarah Harrison in McDaniel, Talbot County. She graduated from St. Michaels High School and attended St. Mary's College of Maryland. After graduating from Strayer's Business College in Baltimore, she returned to the Eastern Shore and worked in the office of the registrar of wills for Talbot County until 1942.

That year, she married Arthur S. Crockett Sr., a partner in Crockett Bros. Boatyard in Oxford. He died in 1975.

From 1970 until retiring in 1985, Mrs. Crockett was the emergency room registrar at Memorial Hospital at Easton.

She was an active member and served for 25 years as treasurer of Oxford United Methodist Church. An alto, she sang in its choir and had headed the church's women's society.

Mrs. Crockett enjoyed playing the organ and travel. Since 1998, she had lived at the York assisted living facility.

Services were held Saturday in Oxford.

Survivors include a son, A. Scott Crockett Jr. of Jarrettsville, and two grandsons.
