A man died Sunday night after being hit by a truck as he tried to cross Mountain Road in Pasadena, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday.

Lance Edward Mitchell of the 8000 block of Escalon Ave. in Pasadena left Lightning Jacks Bar & Grill in the 2800 block of Mountain Road and started walking east about 8 p.m., police said. Mitchell, 37, was drinking, witnesses said.

Mitchell was apparently crossing the road when he was hit by a westbound 2001 Dodge pickup driven by Shawn James Rebstock of Pasadena. The impact threw Mitchell about 80 feet, according to police.

Mitchell was taken first to North Arundel Hospital and later to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead about 11 p.m., police said. Neither Rebstock nor a passenger in his truck suffered injuries. No charges have been filed, and police said the accident is under investigation.
