Kemp, Ronald Staley

December 14, 2003

On Friday, December 5, 2003, RONALD STALEY KEMP, 65, of Naples, FL, passed from this life at Naples Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Frederick, MD, in 1938 and lived in the Baltimore-Annapolis area until he retired to Naples, FL, in 1992. Ron worked 29 years as a sales representative and territorial manager for the R. H. Donnelley Corporation. Upon his arrival in Naples, Ron worked for five years at Walmart, serving as a sales associate and Sporting Goods Manager until he permanently retired in 1997. Ron had a great love for his children and grandchildren and avidly fished and traveled. Ron is survived by his daughters and son-in-laws, Debbie and Tom Buettner of Pasadena, MD, and Dana & Tom Arthur of Westminster, MD; his sons and daughter-in-laws, Scott and Phyllis Kemp of Naples, FL, and Ron and Joanna Kemp of Pasadena, MD; four grandchildren Alexandria, Danielle, Jessica, and Ryon; and his brother, Charles Edward Kemp of Frederick, MD. For those of us who knew and loved him, Ron will always be remembered for his irrepressible positivity, his beautiful smile, and his unbounded love and generosity for all with whom he shared life. As Marc Antony said of the tragic hero Brutus in Shakespeare's great tragedy Julius Caesar, so it can be said of Ron: "His life was gentle, and the elements so mixed in him that Nature might stand up and say to all the world, 'This was a man!'" Ron will be greatly missed, and we can only hope that his example will inspire us all. Private services for Ron will be held in Naples, FL, and Frederick, MD, at a later date. In lieu of a formal memorial service at this time, we ask that contributions in memory of Ron be made to the American Diabetes Association.
