Carol H. Marshall, 66, manager for prison system

Carol H. Marshall, who worked as a manager for the state prison system, died of cancer Dec. 5 at Montgomery Hospice Casey House in Rockville. The Elkridge resident was 66.

Born Carol Hartman in Baltimore, she was raised in Hampstead and graduated from Hampstead High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1981 from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She also attended the Penland School of Crafts in Penland, N.C.

From 1985 until retiring this year, Mrs. Marshall was a manager for the state Division of Correction's State Use Industries at Jessup.

Mrs. Marshall was an accomplished artist who enjoyed sculpting and painting. She also liked refinishing antique furniture.

A memorial service will be held at noon tomorrow at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main St. in Hampstead.

Mrs. Marshall is survived by a son, Douglas Russell Marshall of Arlington, Va.; a daughter, Alison Carol Mickels of Milton, Del.; a brother, Douglas Hartman of Lancaster, Pa.; a sister, Marion Anderson of Rockville; and three grandchildren. Her marriage to Russell E. Marshall ended in divorce.
