Baseball

ANGELS: Agreed to four-year, $51 million contract with free-agent P Bartolo Colon, who had been with White Sox.

ASTROS: Named Russ Nixon manager of Single-A Salem, Ivan DeJesus manager of Single-A Lexington and Gregg Langbehn manager of short-season Single-A Tri-City.

BRAVES: Agreed to two-year, $7 million contract with P John Thomson, who had been with Rangers.

BREWERS: Assigned IF Enrique Cruz and IF Alejandro Machado to Triple-A Indianapolis.

CARDINALS: Agreed to one-year contracts with free-agent IF Brent Butler, who had been with Rockies, and 1B-OF Steve Cox, who had been in Japan.

MARINERS: Agreed to three-year contract with free-agent P Eddie Guardado, who had been with Twins; the deal has player-club options for 2005 and 2006.

PADRES: Agreed to two-year, $2 million contract with P Akinori Otsuka, who has played in Japan.

PHILLIES: Agreed to two-year, $5.5 million contract with former Orioles P Tim Worrell, a free agent who had been with Giants.
