MILDRED SVOBODA (LIBERTY) CARTIER, 88, of Reidsville, NC, formerly of Clearwater, FL, and Baltimore, MD, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 3, 2003 at Britthaven of Madison. The funeral will be held at St. Anthony's Shrine Roman Catholic Church in Emmitsburg, MD on Friday, December 12, at 11:30 a.m., with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Garden in Frederick, MD. Mrs. Cartier was born in Baltimore and was a devout Catholic. She lived most of her life in Baltimore County, where she raised her five children. She and her husband retired to Clearwater, FL in 1971, residing at the Top of the World retirement community. She was an avid golfer. Mrs. Cartier was interested in art, gardening, and nature. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Randall Cartier, Sr.; a son, H. Randall (Randy) Cartier, Jr.; and her sister Ruth Mease. She is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Reynolds of Reidsville, NC, Elaine Harvey of Stockton, CA, and Cheryl Raugh of Frederick, MD; her son Carl Cartier and his wife Shirley of Bel Air, MD, her sister Charlotte Carter of Mountain Top, PA, and her daughter-in-law Sandra Cartier Axtell of Deposit, NY; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
