Lt. Col. JOHN J. SATTERFIELD, 82, of Pine Drive, Terra Alta, formerly of Glen Burnie, MD., died Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at the Garrett County Memorial Hospital, Oakland MD. Born April 3, 1921 in Blue Creek, OH., he was the son of the late Roscoe and Anna C. (Wilmas) Satterfield. He attended the Glen Burnie United Methodist Church and retired as the director of Licensing and Examination and the director of the Investigative Services for the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration, Glen Burnie, MD. He was a member of the Maryland State Trooper's Association, L.O.O. Moose, Glen Burnie and Terra Alta and was an honorary member of the State Troopers Lodge #8, FOP. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife Gertrude (Alexandrow) Satterfield; one daughter Donna J. Satterfield, Glen Burnie, three sons John Lee Satterfield, St. Petersburg, FL., John Satterfield, Buena Vista, CA., and Wayne "Rick" Satterfield, Glen Burnie, MD, one sister Mary Agnes Lisec, Dayton, OH., and nine grandchildren. At his request, his body was cremated. An inurnment service, with full military honors, will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to your local chapter of the American Red Cross. The Stewart Funeral Home, 13141 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD was in charge of the arrangements.
