Main Event LLC, Celebrations to work together

The Main Event LLC of Mount Airy, and All About Celebrations Inc. of Frederick, have joined to become the Main Event for balloon decor and delivery services in the area.

Both businesses will operate from the Main Event's store on South Main Street, Mount Airy.

TownMall schedules events for holidays

TownMall of Westminster has announced holiday events.

Santa visits: Santa will be available to visit with children and have his picture taken with them through Dec. 24.

Holiday Music in the Mall will be presented as follows:

The Carroll County Music Teachers Association will present a concert from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Westminster Municipal Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8.

Marine Corps League Toy Donation: The Carroll County Detachment will collect toys and donations for local families tomorrow through Dec. 14 near the KayBee Toy Store.

Home for the Holidays: Beginning Friday, the mall will display gingerbread houses made by Carroll County students. Shoppers can vote for their favorite by purchasing a ballot from customer service. Proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity.

Unique Jewelry to hold Westminster open house

Unique Jewelry Ltd. will hold an open house this week at the store in Winchester Exchange on East Main Street, Westminster. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Chamber of Commerce plans monthly meetings

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce has announced its monthly meetings.

A general-membership luncheon will be held at noon Dec. 11 at Wilhelm Ltd. Caterers. Bill Gavin, legislative committee chairman, will discuss the 2004 legislative agenda. The cost is $18, and the deadline for reservations is Thursday.

The Connections After Hours networking opportunity and business card exchange will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at Best Western Catering and Conference Center in Westminster.

Participants can learn about the services offered by the conference center for meetings, special occasions and retreats. This is an informal gathering of members to network. Reservations are required by Dec. 9.

Resource center offers career programs

The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center offers a variety of workshops and programs to help people who are seeking a job or looking for a new career. Brethren Service Center honors workers for tenure

The Brethren Service Center recently honored five employees for their tenure during the annual recognition dinner.

Honorees were Emma Moses, kitchen aid, conference center, 25 years; Perry Hudkins, director of information services, 15 years; Kathleen Campanella, coordinator of public information, 10 years; Don Padgett, assistant vice president of pharmaceutical services, Interchurch Medical Assistance Inc., 10 years; and Barbara Watt, financial operations specialist, five years.

The center, owned and operated by the Church of the Brethren, houses seven nonprofit organizations that help people in need around the world.
