Calvert Hall (4-5) vs. No. 5 Loyola (7-3)

Site: M&T Bank Stadium

TV/radio: Ch. 2/WJFK (1300 AM)

Outlook: Loyola leads the series 42-33-8 but has lost the past three after having won 11 straight. Loyola is 3-0 in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference and has clinched at least a tie for its first league title since 1997, when All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year Brant Hall, now an assistant to the Dons' Brian Abbott, led it to a 9-1 record and The Sun's No. 1 ranking. But Calvert Hall (2-1 in A Conference), which went 10-1 last year and was league runner-up to Gilman, has won two straight. One of its wins was a 20-7 victory over Gilman, which Loyola beat, 14-0. The Cardinals can clinch a tie for this year's crown with a victory today. Loyola is led by RB Chris Gillyard (11 TDs), QB Brady Smith, WR-DB Tim Kaiser, WR-DB Van Brooks, LB Larry Strickland, LB Ted Melanson and LB Alex Thompson. The Cardinals boast DE Dane Robinson (6-4, 245), DE Matt Beitman (6-2, 215), WR-DB Jeff Reynolds, FB Matt Buschman (6-1, 235) and WR Jasper Ihezie (20 catches, 590 yards, six TDs).
