The whole family can get in the holiday spirit on a visit to the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City tomorrow through Sunday for the 21st annual Holiday Shopper's Fair. The shopping extravaganza features an array of gifts from sports memorabilia to jewelry. Check out 190 vendors' products to find floral and specialty gifts, toys, dolls, woodcrafts, wrought iron, tapestries, baskets and more. Entertainment includes magic shows, the Balloonatics, face painting, arts and crafts activities, Barnyard Bingo and a visit from Santa. Refreshments will be available. The fair runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

The Roland E. Powell Convention Center is at 4001 Coastal Highway in Ocean City. Admission to the Shopper's Fair is $3 for the weekend. Children 13 and under are admitted free. Call 800-OC-OCEAN or 410-289-8311.

Yuletide by candlelight

A Yuletide Candlelight Tour is offered at the award-winning Schriver House in Gettysburg, Pa. Saturday. Learn how the Battle of Gettysburg affected the Schriver family while you tour rooms decorated to celebrate an 1860s Christmas. Hear about holiday traditions and decorations of the period, and wrap up the evening with a cup of hot cider in the museum while viewing artifacts discovered in the restoration of the house. Tours will start at 5:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

The Schriver House is at 309 Baltimore St., Gettysburg. The tours are $7.95 for adults and $4.95 for children. Reservations are required. Call 717-337-2800.

Hearth and home

If you think surviving a holiday with a house full of relatives is tough, try weathering the winter in an era before grocery and department stores. Learn about the tasks that allowed the settlers and woodland Indians to get through winter at St. Mary's City's Hearth and Home in Early Maryland tomorrow and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be demonstrations and lots of hands-on activities from grinding corn to trying a round of nine pin. Admission is $7.50 for adults, $6 for seniors and students, and $3.50 for children.

Christmas tree lighting

Take the drive to Virginia and visit the Alexandria Christmas Tree Lighting tomorrow in Alexandria's Market Square at 301 King St.

This old-fashioned Christmas celebration is city-sponsored and a great way to kick off the holiday season. There will be musical entertainment and greetings from both the mayor and Santa Claus. Warm refreshments will be sold.
