Sophomore Lauren Troupe scored a career-high 22 points off the bench to lead the Loyola women's basketball team to a 56-46 victory over host Bucknell last night.

Troupe sparked a 9-0 run in the first half with the score tied at 11, and Loyola held the Bison (0-2) scoreless in the last eight minutes of the half to take a 29-15 advantage.

Sophomore Katie Scherle earned her first double double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds, and Krystle Harrington added five points, five assists and five steals for the Greyhounds (1-1).

York 85, Villa Julie 55: Heather Kessler scored 25 points to lead the Spartans (2-1) over the host Mustangs (0-3).

Stephanie Giles finished with a team-high 12 points and Lorrie Budd added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Villa Julie.

* McDaniel 65, Swarthmore 39: Kelly Cramp scored a game- high 12 points and Jacqueline Pundt had 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists as the Green Terror (3-0, 1-0) routed the visiting Garnet Tide (2-1, 0-1) in a Centennial Conference game.

* Salisbury 77, Christopher Newport 73: Christen Barney scored a team-high 17 points and Gen Olds and Megan Dowdy combined for 24 points to lead the Sea Gulls (2-2) over the Captains (1-2) in a Capital Athletic Conference game.

* Frostburg State 88, Mary Washington 61: Tracey Little scored 22 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and had seven assists as the Bobcats (2-1) defeated the Eagles (0-3) in their home opener.

Sophomore Melanie Herget scored a career-high 20 points. Sophomore Kelly True scored a career-high 19 points and tied her career high with 10 rebounds.

* Johns Hopkins 71, Washington College 43: The defending Centennial Conference champion Blue Jays improved to 3-0 with a win over the host Shorewomen, who slipped to 1-2. Johns Hopkins went on a 20-0 run in the first half and took a 23-10 halftime lead.

Trista Snyder led the Blue Jays with 10 points. Ashley Felix added seven points and eight assists.

* Goucher 80, Lynchburg 71: Kate Guggino had game highs of 29 points and 13 rebounds to push the Gophers (2-1) past the visiting Hornets (2-1).

Stephanie Tolbert added 21 points and Stacy Hollander contributed 10 for Goucher.


* Johns Hopkins 80, Villa Julie 67: Eric Toback scored 26 points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds as the Blue Jays defeated the visiting Mustangs.

Frank Mason scored 14 points, shooting 10-for-10 on free throws, for Hopkins (3-0). Danny Nawrocki scored 14 pounds and grabbed six rebounds.

Wade Henninger scored 21 pounds for Villa Julie (0-2). Anthony Fitzgerald added 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds, and Mike Kastanakis and Dale Harris each scored 12 points.

* Indiana (Pa.) 92, Frostburg 65: Gary Franklin scored 20 points to lead five Indians in double digits as the Indian (2-0) downed the visiting Bobcats (2-1).

The Indians closed the first half with a 10-2 run and held a double-digit lead through much of the second.

Brian Owen led Frostburg with a career-high 16 points.

* Hood 80, Mount Aloysius 76: The Mounties pulled within two before the Blazers" Santo Provenzano hit a layup with less than 10 seconds left to put the game out of reach in Cresson, Pa.

Provenzano led all scorers with 24 points and Pete Colwell added 20 for Hood (2-1).

Hood shot 43.8 percent from the field and out-rebounded Mount Aloysius 33-28 to record its second straight win.
