Howard County police said yesterday they are looking for witnesses and additional information as they investigate two traffic accidents that killed two people last weekend.

In the first incident, a man in a 1995 Dodge Ram pickup truck struck a pedestrian as he was trying to cross Washington Boulevard, near Montgomery Road, in Elkridge shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, police said.

The pedestrian - Bruce Hiskey, 48, of Arbutus - was standing in the center turn lane as the truck entered the lane to make a left turn. Hiskey, who was wearing dark clothing, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died, police said.

Police identified the driver as Scott C. Dickerson, 35, of Pasadena.

In the second incident, an 18-year-old man traveling north on Cedar Lane, near Hilltop Road, in Columbia died Sunday about 10:30 p.m., when his Ford Taurus crossed a double yellow line and was hit broad-side by a man in a Toyota Corolla. The Taurus overturned and landed on its roof, police said.

The Taurus' driver - Daniel A. Goudreau of the 6000 block of Snow Crystal in Columbia's Hickory Ridge village - was not wearing his seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Corolla's driver - Jorel St. German, 26, of the 5500 block of Harpers Farm Road in Columbia's Harper's Choice village - was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he remained in serious but stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said both accidents are under investigation and urge anyone with information to call 410-313-3200.
