CCC is holding walk-in registration for winter term

Carroll Community College is holding walk-in registration for winter term at the campus at 1601 Washington Road in Westminster.

Registration is from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Thursday through Dec. 18, and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays until Dec. 19. Classes begin Jan. 6.

Courses are available in a variety of disciplines.

All tuition and fees must be paid for winter term classes at the time of registration.

Public schools to observe Inclusive Schools Week

Carroll County public schools will recognize National Inclusive Schools Week on Dec. 1 to 5 with two events celebrating diversity and equal opportunity for all students to learn.

Barbara Gruber from the Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education will speak at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Robert Moton Elementary School. Amy Kuhns Bartlinski, also from the coalition, will speak at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Carrolltowne Elementary School.

Inclusive schools ensure that all children are welcome and that every student is learning.

The Carroll County Special Education Citizen Advisory Council is sponsoring the programs.

County Literacy Council announces $5,500 in gifts

The Literacy Council of Carroll County has received its annual donation from Shiloh Middle School, this year for $500.

The Literacy Council also received an anonymous gift of $5,000 in memory of Ed Rash.

The Literacy Council provides tutoring and mentoring services in reading, writing, math and English as a second language.
