Kathryn D. Vickers, a retired social work supervisor, died Nov. 15 of complications from a stroke at a Salisbury nursing home. The Northwest Baltimore resident was 95.
Mrs. Vickers was born Kathryn Dodson in Nashville, Tenn., and earned a business degree from Tennessee State University and a master's degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania. She had a second master's degree from New York University.
After her marriage in 1930 to Walter L. Vickers Sr., a Baltimore public schools science teacher, she moved to Baltimore and worked at the Social Security Administration. Mr. Vickers died in 1983.
Mrs. Vickers later joined the Department of Social Services at its Greenmount Avenue city headquarters and became a supervisor before retiring about 30 years ago.
She enjoyed buying and selling antiques, furniture restoration and making candy.
Services were held Thursday.
Survivors include a son, Walter Vickers Jr. of Baltimore; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
