Edna Louise Arehart, 86, homemaker

Edna Louise Arehart, a homemaker and former Ellicott City resident, died of complications from Alzheimer's disease Nov. 14 at her home in New Bern, N.C. The former Ellicott City resident was 86.

Born and raised Edna Louise Patterson in Middlebrook, Va., she moved to Ellicott City during World War II with her husband of more than 30 years, Ralph M. Arehart, a career Army National Guard sergeant who died in 1970. She moved to North Carolina three years ago.

She had been a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ellicott City.

Services were held Wednesday in Waynesboro, N.C.

Survivors include three daughters, Doris A. Murphy of New Bern, Patricia Lafferty of Absecon, N.J., and Marian J. Thorson of Auburn, Wash.; a brother, Guy Patterson of Murray Brook, Va.; a sister, Ruby Harper of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
