John H. Bouse Jr., 87, Bendix Radio worker

November 21, 2003

John H. Bouse Jr., a retired Bendix Radio Corp. office worker and court appraiser, died Tuesday at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital of complications from open-heart surgery in September. The Hamilton resident was 87.

Born in Baltimore and raised on South Ann Street, he attended St. Patrick Parochial School and was a 1936 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School, where he pitched for the baseball team.

Family members said Mr. Bouse tried out for the old International League Orioles in the 1930s, but developed arm trouble and was not signed.

During World War II, he served in the Army.

He then became an office worker, and then a computer-punch operator at the Bendix plant on East Joppa Road. He was later named chief appraiser for the Baltimore register of wills. He retired many years ago.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Miller-Dippel Funeral Home, 6415 Belair Road.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Stella C. Zamenski; a son, John H. Bouse III of Kingsville; a daughter, Jane Robin Gray of Hampstead; a brother, Robert H. Bouse Sr. of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.
