Anthony Joseph Bors, 75, health department official

Anthony Joseph Bors, retired assistant director of administrative services for the Prince George's County Health Department, died of cancer Saturday at his home in New Carrollton. He was 75.

Mr. Bors was born and raised in Binghamton, N.Y., the son of Polish immigrants. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947, and attended Syracuse University on the GI Bill, earning a bachelor's degree in business in 1952.

He worked for Bendix Corp. in Montrose, Pa., and at Vitro Electronics in Silver Spring before joining the county agency in 1962. He retired in 1988.

He was a co-founder of the Prince George's County Serra Club, a Catholic organization that promotes vocations for the priesthood, and had been treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 1022 for two decades.

Mr. Bors was a 35-year communicant of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Landover Hills, where he was a lector, Eucharistic minister and volunteer. A Mass of Christian burial was offered there yesterday.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, the former Joyce Clift; four sons, Robert H. Bors of Saskatchewan, Canada, Gary A. Bors of Lanham, James M. Bors of Annapolis and Richard D. Bors of Owings Mills; two daughters, Sharon Bors Ziegler of Ellicott City and Dianne Bors Giehrl of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Peter Bors of Binghamton and Leo Bors of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.
